I just attended our 40th high school reunion last weekend (10/12/19) and learned of Mark’s passing. I don’t want to believe or accept it. Shocked!! I was hoping to give him a hard time as if we never lost our hs sense of humor. Two attributes I associate the most with Mark - strength and charisma. Reading Billy’s, EJ’s and Barrett’s comments brought back good memories but also reinforced my sense of disbelief in Mark’s passing. I plan to recognize through NAMI, as well as other acts of kindness, the goodness that Mark brought to the world. Sincerely and respectfully. Marty Gleason

Marty - Just checking in on this now. (This is Mark's sister, Mary Beth.) So sorry it took so long for me to see this. As the winter days are dark and long, and Mark's birthday approaches, I feel heavy with memories and so checked in to his website. So glad you joined the story. And sorry that you had to hear the news. Please do support NAMI -- their work is so critically important. As is all of us reflecting on the burden and tragedy that is mental illness. It strikes indiscriminately and can bring down even the very brightest lights. Mark is testimony to that. Please keep remembering the good times with him (feel free to share any of them here!). So glad you knew the goodness he brought to the world.
